Implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and manage the change process in schools and classrooms

Teachers are facing a lot of transformation in education while the school is piloting technology innovations. They need to foster students’ digital competencies and move teacher-centered teaching model to a student-centered learning model. In this blog, I shared my ideas that how to support teachers to manage the changes.  Developing students’ digital citizenship and essential digital skills to equip them is the foundation. Effective coaching skills are one of the best strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations.  Facing the changes, there are barriers making teachers to be reluctant.  Building a positive and supportive relationship between coaches and teachers can help with technology innovations. Being honest and build trust can bring teachers the confidence to leave their comfort zone and take risks in the technology initiate. -EDTC6105: Develop Coaching Skills

Technology brings significant changes to teaching and learning. A framework or standard is important to help the school with sustaining technology innovations and manage the changes. The standard can keep teachers on the right track to meet the goals of technology integration.  They can use the standard to evaluate the technology they leveraged and build a deep understanding of what, how and why they involve technology in classes. This post introduces the SAMR model and how to use SAMR to determine the effects of technology in learning. It also introduces the correlation between SAMR and Bloom’s Taxonomy which can help teachers to make the decision on how to use technology to develop students’ different cognitive levels.
