Regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences rich professional learning programs that model principles of adult learning and promote digital age best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment
During learning in the DEL program on ISTE Coaching Standards, I did research on how tech coaches can provide effective technology-rich professional learning programs to inspire teachers to adopt new teaching methods to enhance student learning based on adult learning principles. The tech coaches should understand teachers need to be empowered in professional learning programs and their enthusiasm is driven by self-determined goals and experience. It is important for the tech coaches to regularly evaluate and reflect on professional practices to deepen understanding of teachers’ diverse needs and goals. The tech coaches need to place teachers in the driver seat, to have them control the directions and pace to follow a unique path directed by personal choices in how what, when, and where they learn.
In my blog: What is the Best Practices Should be Included in Personalized PD, based on the adult learning principles, I brought up personalized PD which can increase teachers’ engagement and motivation in technology-rich professional learning programs. I explained that the tech coach needs to provide ongoing support and embedded assessment in a professional learning program to master teachers’ needs and improve professional practice. They can improve and strengthen their ability when they facilitate teachers with authentic problems in class when teachers use technology to enrich student learning experiences and reflect on professional practices depending on teachers’ feedbacks to promote digital age best practices in teaching, learning and assessment.
