Use digital communication and collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally with students, parents, peers, and the larger community
I worked in an international school, our students came from different countries with different cultures. International students need to understand and handle the variety of cultures and get engaged in globalized learning through digital collaboration and communication with peers globally. During doing coursework for my Master’s Degree in DEL program, I had emerging ideas on how to create opportunities for students to communicate and collaborate with peers out of the school. In my blog: Creative Communicator & Global Collaborator, I suggested using educational technology to create opportunities of globalized learning. I explained how to use Web 2.0 to lead task-based learning and teamwork learning and create a positive communicative and collaborative communities for international students.
Effective Communication is also important between parents and educators for helping student learning. It is a challenging task for teachers to choose the appropriate communication tool to fit different groups of parent preference. In my blog: Effective Home-School Communication & Effective Peer-Peer Collaboration , I had a deep dive into School-to-Home communications. I introduced the digital tool: Remind, which can provide safe mode communication between parents and teachers; also introduced digital platform, Edmodo which can be used as a large community for teachers locally and globally for communication and collaboration.
